How our merchandise works
RevolutionVA does not hold inventory. We are a volunteer-run nonprofit with no office and no warehouse, and boxes of unsold t-shirts in somebody's spare room is exactly the kind of overhead we try not to create. Everything here is printed on demand: an item is manufactured after you order it and shipped directly to you.
Fulfilment is handled by Bonfire, a print-on-demand service we use as our merchandise partner. Selecting any item below takes you to our store on their site, where the order, payment, printing, shipping, and any returns are handled. We receive the proceeds from each sale; we do not receive your payment details.
Because printing and shipping come out of the item price first, the margin on a shirt is modest. Merchandise is a real but small part of how we fund the organization — well behind individual supporters and event sponsorship. If your goal is to put money into community programs as directly as possible, a donation does that far more efficiently than a t-shirt. We would rather say that plainly than sell you a shirt under the impression it is the best way to help.
What's available
Designs from our current and past conferences. Prices are the starting price at our partner's store and vary by style and size.
Questions we get
Is a merchandise purchase tax-deductible?
No. You are receiving goods in exchange for your payment, so a purchase is not a charitable contribution. If you want a tax-deductible gift, make a donation instead — RevolutionVA is a 501(c)(3) organization, EIN 81-0738973, and gifts are deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Where does the money go?
Into the same general fund as everything else we raise: venue costs, audio/video, speaker travel, attendee scholarships, the 757 Tech newsletter, and the administrative cost of keeping a nonprofit in good standing. We have no paid staff, so none of it becomes salary.
My order has a problem. Who do I contact?
Orders, shipping, sizing, and returns are handled by Bonfire, so their support team can resolve those fastest. If you cannot get it sorted there, write to us and we will help chase it.
Can we get shirts for our team or user group?
Get in touch. Bulk and custom runs are possible, and if you are a local community group we will usually try to work something out.
