Why four programs and not one
For most of our history RevolutionVA was a conference organizer. We produced two annual events, they were well attended — 2,155 registrations across 10 conferences — and between them, the organization went quiet for months at a stretch.
A conference is an excellent way to introduce two hundred people to each other on a Saturday. It is a poor way to keep them connected in March. So the programs below are deliberately different shapes: one large annual event that anchors the year, a low-overhead meetup format that can happen any week in any city in the region, and a free newsletter that reaches people whether or not they can ever make it to an event in person.
Hampton Roads DevFest
Our one-day developer conference
A one-day developer conference in Hampton Roads, run by volunteers for the local software community. Held six times since 2016, it is the only conference RevolutionVA currently runs, and its most recent edition was its strongest.

Our regional developer conference, 2016–2019
A regional developer conference that ran for four consecutive years, growing from a single day in 2016 into a two-day event. Its four editions remain the best-attended thing RevolutionVA has produced.

Topical events that cut across the community
One-off events built around a topic rather than a technology, a city, or a user group. When a subject matters across the whole regional community but does not belong to anyone in particular, it gets a Pop-up Meetup — hosted wherever in Hampton Roads makes sense that time.

RevolutionVA has no paid staff. Every program on this page is produced by people who do it in their own time. Recurring supporters are what let us plan more than one event ahead.
