Volunteers run all of it
The 757tech Crew is what we call the people who put on Hampton Roads DevFest, help at local meetups, and keep the 757tech newsletter going. RevolutionVA has no paid staff. If you want to help, send us an email and we'll add you. We don't do interviews, and you can give as much or as little time as you have.

The jobs
A few people help on DevFest day and that's it for the year. Others end up at almost every event.
Hampton Roads DevFest
Our one-day developer conference, held every year. Crew members run registration, look after speakers, handle the A/V and take photos. If RevolutionConf comes back, the Crew will help with it too.
Local meetups
We help local user groups find speakers and get the room set up on the night. We also run the 757dev Pop-up Meetups.
757tech.org
Volunteers write the newsletter and update the website, which is how most people find out about meetups ahead of time.
Example roles
The work changes from event to event, and we match people to whatever needs doing.
- Speaker wrangling. Get presenters to the right room on time with their slides working.
- Mentoring. Help newcomers at workshops and answer questions from first-time attendees.
- Speaking. Give a talk at a meetup, a Pop-up or DevFest. You don't need to have spoken before.
If you're good at design, writing, video or logistics, tell us. We can usually use it.
Get involved
We'll email you when an event needs help, and you pick the ones that work for you.
If the button doesn't open your email, write to [email protected] with the subject "Join the 757tech Crew".
Some programs may require a background check.
Code of Conduct
Everyone at a RevolutionVA event follows our Code of Conduct, Crew members included. Be decent to each other.
