What RevolutionConf was
RevolutionConf was RevolutionVA's first program and remains, by total attendance, the biggest thing we have done. It ran for four consecutive years and recorded 1,170 registrations across 4 editions — more than Hampton Roads DevFest has drawn across six.
It began in May 2016 as a single-day event with 246 registrations and expanded to a two-day format the following year, which it kept for the rest of its run. Attendance climbed to 320 in 2017, dipped to 273 in 2018, and reached its high point of 331 at the final edition in June 2019.
The conference was a general software event rather than a single-technology one, which is the same principle Hampton Roads DevFest runs on today. A developer should be able to spend a weekend there and come away with something useful regardless of what they write code in.
Current status
RevolutionConf has not been held since June 2019. RevolutionVA's conference programming is currently focused on Hampton Roads DevFest, which returned in 2024 and has been growing since.
We keep this page up because RevolutionConf is a real part of the organization's history and because people still ask about it. The brand assets remain available in our media kit, and if the conference returns, the announcement will go out through the 757 Tech newsletter and on revolutionconf.com.
